Summer 2010 - August 8, 2010

Another Zoo gig has come and gone and as always it is probably the most looked forward to gig of the year.  Every seat was filled, it was standing room only up by the fence and the walkway up to the top of the hill and all the room behind the seating area was crammed with a few thousand people wanting their 70s and 80s fix.  Disco and 88 delivered big!  The weather was perfect for it and it couldn't have been any better if we scripted it.  Our second set was huge!  We may have gone overboard with our 15 minute long Crue medley but I will say that those people that "got it" will be the ones to jump on the 88 train with us.  When Disco finished their 2nd set we immediately joined them on stage for a jam of You Shook Me All Night Long.  This was the first time all 8 of us played together on stage.  Sonny and the crew are great guys and I already can't wait til next year.  363 days and counting!

Coming up is the Alice Cooper afterparty at The Wing Warehouse in Eastlake on Friday September 3.  Anyone remember the Def Leppard afterparty?  We have confidence it will be just as much fun!  So get to the concert and then walk over to The Warehouse for some 1988.

1st Quarter - April 7, 2010

The 88 train is rolling smooth.  Our new system is dialed in and Vance '82 rocks the dials..knobs..sliders..whatever you want to call it, the dude knows his stuff!  The Backstreet gig...errr Funky Aces...I mean The Thirsty Camel is a page straight outta 88 history.  The club is the same as it was and was a great time our first gig there.  April 17th marks our return so check it out!  The end of this month sees us back in Cincinnati at Charlie's (love that place) and May 1 we head back to Powell to my favorite gig, The Lazy Chameleon.  If you can find a way to make the trip, I guarantee it's worth your time.  I can't emphasize the stage and band "entrance" enough as to how cool it is.  Quarter 2 looks to be just as smooth for us and hopefully we can add in some new tunes.  I know we are looking at bringing back Somebody Save Me and maybe a few others from our dusty 15 year old playbook...

2010 - January 4, 2010

Another year gone by...where does the time go?  Much has happened and as always we end the year looking back with smiles on our faces and content  in our hearts.  Looking out at you all we get the satisfaction and the reassurance as to why we are still doing this.  We have been adding new songs and new venues to keep the diehards refreshed and the newcomers interested.  As always..any suggestion, email Dave or myself and we will try and fill as  many requests as we can.

2010 DATES - November 10, 2009

Summer months are a strange bird in the world of 1988.  It's harder to pack the clubs in the summer..especially one as nice as this past one had been.  But all you fans continue to amaze us.  Coming out week after week to support the music you love...it's truly amazing.  Not to mention to occasional out of town trips..those are more fun then you can imagine.  You local folk need to make the ttrip down to Columbus, or Cincinatti or even Celina with us!

The Halloween Bash was off the hook!  Costumes were great, chicks were hot, prizes were..hell I wasn't paying attention but I'm guessing they were good..Even Dennis was in rare form that night...all was right in the world of 88.  This past weekend we played Parma Tavern and while it wasn't packed like it used to be back before they cancelled bands on Friday, it was very respectable..and the people that were there, were there to see the band..and they stayed all night!  Last night we played Legend's in Uniontown and DAMN! I forgot how much fun that gig was!  We unveiled the new 88 PA sound system and let me tell  you...it is the cleanest sound I have heard!  Crip and Dave "I'm on the Highway to Hell"anger did an awesome job!  The crowd was huge and loved everything we played..the singalongs were off the charts and to make it cooler, the club had their 80's Prom Night costume contest!  I saw Don Johnson, complete with white loafers and teased hair.  I saw the long haired feathered mullet wearing a suit and white tennis shoes...that was the best by the way.  And the girls in the Prom dresses were just making me wish I lived through that movement...you know we all graduated mid to late 90's so we missed the boat...
